The San Francisco Unicorns have bolstered their 2026 Cognizant Major League Cricket (MLC) title ambitions with the major signing of Australian international all-rounder Aaron Hardie.

Fresh off a championship-winning season with the Perth Scorchers, Hardie returns to MLC as one of the most dynamic all-rounders in short-form cricket. Known for his explosive hitting at the top of the order and his ability to manoeuvre the new ball, the Australian is set to play a pivotal role in the Unicorns’ quest for the 2026 trophy.

Aaron Hardie will join San Francisco Unicorns for the 2026 season of Major League Cricket.

With 16 T20 international caps to his name, 73 appearances for the current BBL champions, and familiarity with the MLC from a stint at the Texas Super Kings in 2024, Hardie’s all-round experience and leadership in winning teams played a key role in the Unicorns’ recruitment decision.

Hardie is set to reunite with his Scorchers teammate Finn Allen at the top of the Unicorns’ order. The potent combination scored 800 runs between them in their run to the BBL title, with Hardie also contributing 12 wickets with the ball.

Aaron Hardie, San Francisco Unicorns’ latest signing, said: “Having had a taste of the MLC back in 2024, I know the league’s quality. I’m excited to get back out to the US and be part of the impressive Unicorns franchise for the upcoming season.

“The talent throughout the team is world-class, and it’s a huge bonus to be linking back up with my Scorchers teammate Finn Allen, who has already given me an insight into the team’s ambitions and the elite culture that will guide us in a push for the 2026 title.”

Cameron White, Head Coach of San Francisco Unicorns, said: “Bringing in a player of Aaron Hardie’s calibre to the Unicorns is a huge boost to our Championship hopes for the 2026 season. His recent form in the BBL and versatility with both bat and ball make him one of the game’s leading short-form all-rounders right now.

“The tactical flexibility that Aaron brings in the powerplay will be a key asset, both in terms of early wicket-taking and putting bowlers off their stride with his boundary-hitting prowess. He will also bring a winning mentality and big-game experience that benefits the team, both on and off the pitch.”

San Francisco Unicorns’ MLC season begins on Friday, June 19, 2026, against LA Knight Riders at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, near Dallas, Texas. The team will play three regular-season matches at the Oakland Coliseum on June 24, June 26, and June 28.
